Yesterday at school was peaceful and calm. Today was not. Unhinged is the word I would use to describe the students. I was perplexed at the difference, until finally I realized the tryptophan has worn off. Yesterday, students were all numbed by the tryptophan from leftover turkey. Eureka! I have found my problem! But the solution? Not so much. I need to figure out a way to encourage students to eat healthily by hyping up the value and deliciousness of mozzarella sticks, also high in tryptophan!
Until that happens, I guess I'll have to rely on good classroom management, diverse learning activities and encouragement. Oh well, I guess you will too! At this time of the year, students are focused on the holiday happenings, and we need to be very solid and consistent in the classroom to avoid disaster. Today's song is one you can sing as you battle the wildness that seems to be ready to surface in a moment's notice.
O Tryptophan, o tryptophan
How boisterous are our classes
O Tryptophan, o tryptophan
How boisterous are our classes
How boisterous are our classes
O Tryptophan, o tryptophan
How boisterous are our classes
Their thoughts are set on Christmas time
As we teach on through wintertime
O tryptophan, o tryptophan
Come help me with my classes
As we teach on through wintertime
O tryptophan, o tryptophan
Come help me with my classes
O tryptophan, o tryptophan
Please come to all my classes
O tryptophan, o tryptophan
Please calm down all the masses
Please come to all my classes
O tryptophan, o tryptophan
Please calm down all the masses
I'd thank you, o, so gratefully
As students learned attentively
O tryptophan, o tryptophan
Come visit all my classes.
As students learned attentively
O tryptophan, o tryptophan
Come visit all my classes.
Have a great and calm day as you sing along!
